What's Innovation?
For us it is NOVELTY with IMPACT.
Sometimes Innovation is seen as a complex proccess that escarcely delivers succesful outputs. Yes, Innovation is complex. Mainly because what makes anything new succesful is its impact in society, and society is a complex non-linear emergent system.
But the mistake it is treating innovation as you would manage a business. There's no business without profit. But there's knowledge in every innovation process, even the ones that fail to deliver a succesfull exploitable output.
In Nova Paradigm Group, Innovation is about managing failure till success. Business exploitation is about managing success till failure.
1IMPLEMENTATION
Through our organisation structure we should assure some conditions that will allow innovation birth.
-Favour crosspolonisation among different experts and talents.
-No limits to exploration and ideas proposed.
-No limits to scalability and location independent.
So a flat organisation It is. But it has to be more. No hierarchies at all. No middle-bottle necks. Not now when we are small, but also once we grow. We want to be able to aim big without sacrificing what made us great. We think a holarchy organisation could be the answer.
Innovation requires a spcefic organisational structure. But it is not enough. Innovation requires also a specific culture to be able to grow and reproduce. A set of values not always matching the ones accepted in real life businesses. And therefore, usually enforced through a strong charismatic leadership.
IMPLEMENTATION
When you look to innovative organisations that kept being so for a long time, a set of cultural characteristics emerge. And usually these cultural values are maintained though a strong leadership. That's a problem. As a non-profit organisation with a struggling to keep alive in our first few days of life, we can not depend on any strong long-term leadership.
Is there any way to assure these innovative cultural values without requiring the involvement of a devoted leader? We think so.
